Sonoco Completes Sale of UK Labels and Labels Machinery Business
HARTSVILLE, S.C., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sonoco (NYSE: SON) today announced the sale of its Harlands Labels and Label Machinery business in England to B. H. Matthews, Ltd., headquartered in Slough, England.
The Matthews Group is predominately a wet-glue label manufacturer. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Harlands had sales of approximately $30 million in 1998. Sonoco completed the sale of its North American labels operation in March 1998.
Sonoco, founded in 1899, is a $2.6 billion manufacturer of industrial and consumer packaging products with approximately 275 operations in 32 countries serving customers in some 85 nations.
